Barred Owls (Strix varia) are beautiful, medium-sized owls that are heard calling more often than they are seen. Their vocalization is often described as sounding like "Who? Who? Who Cooks for You?" This young bird, which had recently fledged its nest, was still calling for food for its mother. Barred Owls are found in variety of habitats although they often inhabit areas with fresh water, such as swamps and other wetland habitats. Their prey includes: frogs, rodents, crayfish, and small reptiles....NOTE: THIS IMAGE HAS BEEN MANIPULATED IN PHOTOSHOP (BACKGROUND BLURRED, BACKGROUND CLONING, DODGING & BURNING)
