From back: Founder and Cocobolo nature preserve owner Michael Roy and herpetologist Twan Leenders observe Atelopus at the Panama Amphibian Rescue and Conservation Project's new Gamboa Field Station. Scientists took a large percentage of wild Atelopus into to facilities such as this in an attempt to initiate a captive breeding program intended to save the toads from extinction at the hands of the chytrid fungus.
