Mountain Sweet Pitcher Plants (Sarracenia jonesii Wherry) are extremely rare, federally endangered plants found in only 6-8 locations spread across northwestern, south carolina and southwestern north carolina. They only grow in cataract bogs (technically fens) in exposed areas of the Southern Blue Ridge Escarpment. They are threated by drought, habitat destruction and poaching.
