Brown Fishing Spiders (Dolomedes vittatus) are very large spiders found along creek banks, ponds, swamps and other wetland areas. They are often attracted to porch lights and are sometimes found inside the home in wet areas such as bathrooms. Although these spiders may look dangerous to some, they are not seriously poisonous to humans but are fairly aggressive and will bite. They are often mistaken for wolf spiders or tarantulas.
