On rare occasions we are gifted with moments, as we walk or sit quietly in a forest or some other natural place, when our human edges become soft and our spirit crosses over a threshold into communion with nature. During these times, the eyes of birds become our own; we feel the flow of water; hear the deer's hooves pushing through the grasses. It is a time of bonding that stays with us as we leave these transcendent moments. As Joan Halifax writes in her book The Fruitful Darkness, "The word threshold means the place where things are thrashed and beaten apart." In such a place we discover that we are immersed in each other; we are mixed up with all beings." This body of work is my attempt to capture these moments through photography.
