An endangered, federally protected rusty-patched bumble bee (Bombus affinis) worker on an aster at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum, Madison, Wisconsin. It was the first species of North American bee to be added to the Endangered Species List in 2017. Without protection from neonics, this species is likely to continue to decline.
